Dr. Peter W. Weston, CFP™

The former principal of WESBAN is Peter W. Weston, Ed.D. He is a Certified Financial Planner and an Investment Advisor Representative. Dr. Weston has served individuals and many charitable institutions professionally since 1959. Dr. Weston was born in 1933. Requirements for the designation Certified Financial Planner were completed in 1976. He was the first Alabama planner admitted to the "Registry of Financial Planning Practitioners".

Dr. Weston established Alabama's oldest unbiased, comprehensive financial planning practice in 1977. Prior to that time, he served as President of Southern Financial Advisors, an affiliate of Southern Bancorporation. He was a financial development consultant to the National YMCA (Great Lakes Region), a consultant with the Council for the Advancement of Small Colleges, and a Fund Raising Institute lecturer for the American College Public Relations Association (CASE) and the American Alumni Council. Dr. Weston is a past President of the Alabama Chapter, International Association of Financial Planners, and a member of the Financial Planning Association (Institute of Certified Financial Planners), the International Association of Financial Planners and the National Association of Personal Financial Planners and a founding board member of the Alabama Chapter of the National Committee for Planned Giving.

Dr. Weston has served his community in the past as President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, a member of the Boy Scouts Executive Board, the YMCA and Salvation Army Boards. He was Vice-President of Samford University from 1970-1975. He has served as a Deacon and continues to serve as Elder Emeritus at Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he teaches Sunday School and Bible classes. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Camping and Recreation Ministry. He currently serves on the Advisory Boards of Restoration Academy, Cornerstone Schools of Alabama and Trinity Counseling Ministry of Birmingham. He serves (2004-2006) as Vice President of the Alabama Chapter of Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge.
